Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been flocking to a takeover update from Paul Smith after he shared perhaps crucial news to do with the Premier League.
As per the journalist, the Premier League are apparently very close to signing off the deal for the Saudi-led consortium to buy the Tyneside club, despite the forensic investigation into allegations of piracy links within the country. However, England’s highest division have apparently failed to find sufficient evidence to support blocking the £300 million sale from current owner Mike Ashley.
He added that the Premier League are dragging their heels and prolonging the process so that they can investigate the group deeply enough to not get accused of not doing their job properly.
Nevertheless, it is Smith’s understanding that Premier League have found nothing significant to block the bid from the consortium, which has been led by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS).
