Lots of Newcastle fans have been reacting to a somewhat surprising transfer link, as reports claim they are eyeing a move for free-kick specialist Hakan Calhanoglu.
According to Monday’s edition of Tuttosport, via Sport Witness, the Magpies sent a scout to watch the Turkey international in action against Sampdoria this week.
The report from Tuttosport claims the Magpies were keeping a keen eye on the 25 year-old as they look to finalise their January targets, and with his contract set to run until the summer of 2021 now is the time for Milan to think about either a renewal or cashing in.
AC Milan and Sampdoria drew 0-0 in a rather dull affair, but the scout would have liked what he saw from Calhanoglu, who recorded three shots in the match, as well as two key passes, one successful dribble and two tackles, per Whoscored.

Calhanoglu, who mostly plays from the left flank, is known primarily for his knack of scoring wondergoals, like the stunning free-kick he scored vs Borussia Dortmund or his unbelievable swerving, dipping strike vs Arsenal in the Europa League.
