Lots of Newcastle United fans have slammed Lee Charnley and Steve Bruce after news emerged that the former has addressed Bruce and the players over Project Restart.

As per ChronicleLive, the Tyneside club’s managing director held an in-house Zoom conference with Bruce and his playing squad in the aftermath of the Premier League’s Project Restart meeting. Up until the meeting, players have been waiting anxiously for news on when they can restart work at the training ground but plans for an 18 May return have been scrapped.

The Premier League have an ambitious 12 June date in the diary to start playing matches again but coaches and medical staff believe a pre-season style preparation plan will be required to get back into shape for competitive fixtures.

Charnley wanted to test the water on ideas for when the squad returns to work, with the possibility of individual training with social distancing initially before moving on to smaller groups.
