The odds on Philippe Coutinho joining Newcastle have plummeted, making the Toon second favourites to sign the Brazilian.
According to Oddschecker, Chelsea are the outright favourites to snap up the Barcelona castaway, but the Magpies’ odds have been massively slashed from 66/1 down to 6/4.

Coutinho’s career has hit a slump since he left Liverpool for a supposed dream move to La Liga. Since leaving the Premier League, the 27-year-old has struggled to settle down with Barcelona and he is currently on loan with Bayern Munich. However, the Bundesliga leaders aren’t keen on making Coutinho’s move permanent and a move back to England looks likely as the transfer reports continue to swirl around him.
Some Newcastle fans have responded to the update and are indifferent to the thought of the Brazilian potentially heading to St James’ Park. One supporter has slammed Coutinho and branded him a ‘show pony for Sky Sports cameras’.

We are dreaming if we think we even have the slightest chance of signing coutinho. People are losing their minds. We’ll be trying to buy a fewer elder statesmen and some young talent from Bundesliga and even then will probably lose out to the likes of Man United.

Why risk millions on someone like coutinho mate when Rondon loves the club and an absolute powerhouse for free ? Tip ten for us next year easy if Rondon had the right players around him I think

No. Talk to the majority of Liverpool fans and I think they’ll say the same thing. Show pony for Sky Sports camaras but won’t buckle down when times get hard.
