Whenever Newcastle get given hope it just seems like someone out there doesn’t allow it. Once again, the Magpies have been given a reason to smile before having it yanked away in cruel fashion. This time around, the Geordies have had it all to shout about with the brilliant Sean Longstaff, yet he’s now likely to miss the rest of the season.
Newcastle United can confirm midfielder Sean Longstaff is likely to miss the remainder of the 2018/19 season with a knee ligament injury.

The Magpies had the update delivered to them on the Newcastle website and have all been reacting in different ways. Some of them are just gutted and have been grieving ahead of the thoughts of their final nine Premier League games of the season, whilst others have been thinking about Longstaff himself and what his mindset will be like at the moment after such a promising start and now to be sidelined.
Geordies everywhere will be wishing their star midfielder well and will be desperate to see him back at the start of next season in August. For now, though, the fans are fortunate enough to have just nine games left and the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Ki Sung-Yeung ready to step in, as well as Mo Diame, who was the man to come off the bench and replace Longstaff when he suffered his blow against West Ham.

The Magpies absolutely loved seeing Longstaff doing his thing in the middle of the park and will be counting down the days until he’s back for the start of next season.
