Sky Sports have reported that while it is unclear whether Newcastle United have made an official bid for Emil Krafth, one of their sources claims the Magpies have made an offer of £5.5m.
Steve Bruce is said to be keen on recruiting a right and left-sided defender before the transfer window deadline on August 8th.
Krafth started 33 games for Amiens last season and came on as a substitute twice, scoring one goal and assisting once, as per WhoScored.
He made 1.6 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 2.3 clearances and 0.3 blocks last season, while only making 0.2 dribbles and 0.4 crosses per game.
In contrast, DeAndre Yedlin started 28 league games last season, coming on as a substitute once, scoring once and providing two assists.
He made 1.9 tackles, 1 interception, 2.4 clearances and 0.3 blocks, while making 0.3 dribbles and 0.6 crosses per game.
The only one of Krafth’s statistics that matches Yedlin’s was for blocks made, while he couldn’t exceed any – indicating that he should surely be Newcastle’s back-up option, rather than the first-choice right-back.
However, compared to Javier Manquillo, another Newcastle right-back, he did manage to slightly come out on top when it came to tackles made per game, with the Spaniard averaging 1.5.
There isn’t too much time left of the transfer window, so Newcastle should get this done quickly so they have one less transfer to worry about.
He isn’t the most exciting acquisition, but Krafth could be relatively cheap given the Magpies’ reported offer and would be a solid back-up option at right-back.
