Newcastle react: Rondon the king

The impossible has happened. Newcastle United have won their second home game on the bounce defeating Bournemouth 2-1 at St. James’ Park over the weekend.

The man to thank: Solomun Rondon.

It’s fair to say that the forward has been less than sparkling since his arrival from relegation side West Brom, contributing a grand total of zero goals in seven games. But, on this fateful day, something seemed different. Maybe he ate his porridge in the morning or tried a new pre-game ritual – whatever it was, it worked.

His first came courtesy of a parry from Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic which he was quick to pounce on following his initial effort on goal. Catlike.

For the second, Rondon finally remembered how to use his physique to his advantage and towered above the helpless Bournemouth defenders to comfortable head home Kennedy’s cross. Shades of a certain Mr. Alan Shearer.

Newcastle fans will be hoping that this is just the start of the Venezuelan’s form. Here are some of their reactions on Twitter following the match…
