The Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) have stated on their Twitter page that Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has responded to a letter sent to him by the Legal Counsel (instructed by NUST) to outline the support of the proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group in the northeast.
This follows Masters responding to further questions on the prospective £300m deal with current club owner Mike Ashley, as he failed to add any more clarity on the whole situation.

NUST concluded in their tweet that “we look forward to the completion of the process”, with many of the Toon faithful likely to be praying that a final decision on the bid and an official announcement will be made soon by Masters and the Premier League.

Indeed, this lies solely with the league and its chief, as the eagerly-anticipated results of the Owners’ and Directors’ Test (ODT) are yet to be finalised either as the buying side anxiously continue to wait.

Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and his country’s Public Investment Fund, the billionaire Reuben brothers based in London and PCP Capital Partners chief Staveley make up the consortium trying to dislodge Ashley from his throne.
The fact that Masters has responded to the NUST regarding the saga may be a positive sign for the Magpies, as he is clearly reading into the potentially positive outcomes of the takeover, but it is not yet finalised and everything still remains speculative at this point.
