Newcastle United fans in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports that the club could be set to make a move for an England international midfielder.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are ready to test Tottenham’s resolve by making a January bid for Andros Townsend.
The England midfielder has been hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons this week following an altercation with Tottenham’s fitness coach which led to the club taking disciplinary measures against the player.
The player could have played his last game for the club following the incident which occurred on the pitch at White Hart Lane prior to his sides win over Aston Villa.
Should Tottenham decide the player has no future at the club, Newcastke will face competition from reported rivals for his signature Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion, and Aston Villa.
The 24 year old is said to be unhappy at the club since the incident occurred, after not being able to give his side of the story.
The Newcastle fans in The Transfer Tavern would be delighted if the club pulled of the signing of Townsend, and woukd welcome the player with open arms to St James Park.
