Newcastle United: Fans attack Miguel Almiron following wasted opportunity

Since arriving from the MLS last January, Miguel Almiron has so far failed to adapt to life in the Premier League despite showing glimpses of his quality – evident by his poor record of zero assists and zero goals in all competitions for Newcastle United.

The Paraguayan was temporarily their record signing after transferring from Atlanta United to the tune of £20 million – surpassing the milestone previously held by Michael Owen’s signing from Real Madrid back in 2005.

Despite having a great reputation on the East Coast, Almiron hasn’t had the same luck winning over the admiration of a stubborn but fair Geordie fanbase – with many supporters having mixed opinions over whether he will eventually come good for the Tyneside club.

One particular moment that stood out during the South American’s last outing in Newcastle’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa was Allan Saint-Maximin’s incredible run to set up Almiron – but unfortunately his miss-control cost the Magpies a potential scoring chance.

As a result, Newcastle fans have continued to slam the 25-year-old online – here’s what they had to say, with one supporter refusing to believe he is better than Christian Atsu.
