In a report from the Newcastle Chronicle written by Lee Ryder, Roma president James Pallotta has been quoted speaking out against the news that he was reportedly set to make a bid for Newcastle United – blasting the rumours as ‘fake news’.
Pallotta, who was reportedly set to bid £300 million for the club in order to take over from current owner Mike Ashley (Adnkronos via Shields Gazette), has since come out and scolded the rumours that he was interested in a Magpies takeover. The American billionaire had joined the likes of Amanda Staveley and Sheikh Khaled on the long list of prospective buyers that were reportedly ready to launch a bid for Newcastle, but this report has all but confirmed that Pallotta will not enter negotiations over the club any time soon. As a result, some supporters have fumed over the update whilst holding a degree of cynicism due to let downs in the past.
