Newcastle United: Fans buzz as potential takeover dates are reported

Some Newcastle United fans are buzzing as a report from the Daily Mail has suggested that the takeover could be finalised in up to three or four weeks.

This is the estimated time the outlet has given for all of the relevant paperwork to be signed as the deposit to pay Mike Ashley in exchange for ownership of the Tyneside club has reportedly already been paid by the Saudi-led consortium. As per the article, the remainder of the balance will be due once the Premier League approves of the change of ownership.

Assuming everything goes to plan, by the end of next month the Saudi sovereign wealth fund will become the majority owners at St. James’ Park, holding 80 per cent alongside the 10 per cent given to financer Amanda Staveley and the rest to property tycoon brothers David and Simon Reuben.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan will become the new chairman, as he is currently governor of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).

These Magpies seemed to be buzzing at the news on Twitter as they hope and wait for the takeover to complete:
