Newcastle United: Fans discuss ‘drastic’ plan to play games at Wembley Stadium

Some Newcastle United fans have been discussing the FA’s ‘drastic’ plan to potentially salvage the season, as written by ChronicleLive‘s Lee Ryder.

According to the report, the Tyneside club as well as the 19 other Premier League sides have been given the opportunity to host their final games at Wembley Stadium or St. George’s Park if it means getting the season finished quicker.

The top flight could be set to televise all remaining fixtures behind closed doors in either June or July, with Sky Sports in addition to BT Sport aiming to give out matches to the country.

As per the article, both places mentioned above would suit potentially hosting three or four games a day, as they would have sufficient enough hotel rooms for clubs coming from afar to stay in, and in the case of St. George’s Park, based in Burton, the complex has 13 football pitches.

I think they’ll need to cancel the league cup next season to fit the games in , it’s one almighty mess to try and sort out though .

Whatever conclusion they come to is going to end in legal challenges from somewhere. In this scenario a relegated side/side missing out on Europe etc. Would argue that they would’ve fared better with a home crowd behind them etc. What a mess.
