According to a fresh report from Spanish outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo, Newcastle United and West Ham have been offered Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi by the player’s agent for a potential £21.4m fee – prompting a mixed reaction from a section of Magpies supporters.
Ekambi, who bagged 18 goals in 43 appearances for Villarreal in all competitions last season (as per Transfermarkt), is reportedly being offered to the two Premier League clubs for just over £20m. The Cameroonian has been linked with a move to St. James’ Park previously in the January window (Le10Sport), but this fresh update has revealed that the striker could potentially move to Tyneside thanks in part to the player’s agent. Compared to the Magpies’ current forwards Joelinton and Andy Carroll, Ekambi has not only bettered their pass completion rates (with 78.7%), but has also accumulated more shots per game this season, as per WhoScored.com.
Regardless, these Newcastle fans are still divided over the forward – with some taking his age (27) into account when considering a possible deal – while others simply just want a prolific striker. Here’s what they had to say on social media:
Get him in why not

If charnley can knock them down to £18m then it could be a goer.

Impressive stats but the powers that be will solely look at his age and his sell on value and never go for it.
