Lots of Newcastle United fans are doubting all kinds of talk about a potential takeover of the club after responding to a tweet from NUFC 360.
There have been several reports of interest in buying the northern club from owner Mike Ashley, with the likes of Peter Kenyon, Garry Cook and Amanda Staveley among the parties.
An article dating back to February from ChronicleLive journalist Mark Douglas touches particularly on the proposed interest from Staveley, who led a consortium to hold extensive talks with Ashley’s lawyers over a potential buy-out of £350 million.
Details of the talks are in the public domain as Saudi Arabia’s sovereign-wealth fund have discussed the possible takeover. United apparently declined to comment on the latest reports on the offer as talks had been going on for months.
Douglas states in his own article that members of the Toon Army reacted cynically to the reports, with many doubting if any takeover would ever come to pass.
