Some Newcastle United fans are still doubting whether the takeover will happen after former Magpies legend Alan Shearer says even he remains cautious as Mike Ashley is involved.
Speaking to The Sun (via ChronicleLive), the 49-year old has refused to get excited until the sale of the Tyneside club actually goes through, adding that he is reluctant to get his hopes up, highlighting the fact that the Toon have been here before.

Shearer also points out that questions still need to be answered, such as the underlying finances of the deal and a lack of comment from both the owner and the prospective buyers.
The ex-NUFC man summarised by claiming that Ashley could easily change his mind, and so Shearer remains cautious until the takeover is made official.
Indeed, the Englishman has had to deal with the Sports Direct CEO on a managerial scale, where he only lasted eight matches, as per Transfermarkt.
These supporters are now doubting the takeover on Twitter after hearing Shearer’s revelation:

Spot on Big Al. It would surprise no one if he trIed to change the terms or pulled the plug at the last minute. It’s in Ashley’s DNA

Never doubt the spitefulness of Mike. Like Alan, I’m cautious until it’s all done and dusted and he’s been ejected
