Newcastle United: Fans doubt takeover after George Caulkin’s update

Plenty of Newcastle United fans are doubting whether the prospective takeover in the North East will even go through after George Caulkin delivered an update on his official Twitter page.

As per his tweet, The Athletic journalist reminded members of the Toon faithful that the proposed deal between the Saudi-led consortium and Mike Ashley has not been officially signed off by the Premier League yet.

Indeed, the buying side have to pass the owners’ and directors’ tests set out by the top flight whilst England’s highest division also continue their investigation into possible piracy and human rights issues within the bid.

As a result, there has been delay after delay which has increasingly frustrated some NUFC supporters as the days have gone on, to the point where they are now doubting if the takeover will even be approved.

These are indeed strange times anyway, but made even stranger for those associated with the Tyneside club as some simply do not know how to feel about the whole situation.
