Newcastle United: Fans flock to show love for Federico Fernandez

Responding to Newcastle United defender Federico Fernandez’ Twitter post, Magpies supporters couldn’t help but show love for the Argentine given his recent contribution on Tyneside – being one of the defenders who have found the net over the last two months as well as putting in great shifts to keep opposing teams out.

Fernandez, who signed from Swansea City back in 2018 for a £6 million fee, played under former manager Rafa Benitez at Napoli where he won two Coppa Italia titles before eventually moving to the Premier League.

After a successful spell at the Welsh club, Fernandez opted for Tyneside as part of the 2018 summer window spending spree on deadline day, with supporters having little idea that he would eventually become a key player under Steve Bruce.

This season, the former Swansea man averages the most clearances per game than anyone in the squad (registering 6.5) per game according to WhoScored, proving his worth as a resolute defender.

Now, the 30-year-old has arguably surpassed his own personal expectations for Newcastle, with supporters flocking to hail the defender after his most recent Twitter post.
