Fernandez has unquestionably been one of Newcastle’s heroes of the last month along with Ciaran Clark and Allan Saint-Maximin, having a major say in each of the Magpies’ best results – with his latest defensive display helping Steve Bruce’s side nick an unlikely point at home to Manchester City.
Indeed, during the game, the former Swansea ace made the most interceptions and clearances of any player on the pitch as per WhoScored.
His Saturday efforts have also landed him a spot in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week, mainly by having a major hand in helping his side stay resolute from wave after wave of City attack at St. James’ Park.
