Newcastle United: Fans react to report about how squad value has plummeted

Many Newcastle United fans have reacted to a report by Lee Ryder about how much the value of the squad has plummeted.

The journalist shared his article for ChronicleLive on his official Twitter page, which prompted some interesting reactions from the Toon faithful.

According to the report, the Magpies’ squad value has reduced by 20%, taking the stat from Transfermarkt. The founder of the website Matthias Seidel revealed that stock market prices had collapsed, which means that lots of clubs could be threatened by insolvency and transfer plans could come to a standstill, with fees not expected to rise in the foreseeable future like they have done in previous years, as per the article.

As per Transfermarkt, the 20 per cent loss is the joint-most out of all Premier League clubs, alongside Crystal Palace and Leicester City. United’s total squad value is down from £277.04 million to £221.56 million.
