Loads of Newcastle fans were left furious at the performance of Sean Longstaff against Crystal Palace on Saturday, as the Magpies fell to just one win in their last nine Premier League matches.
After a good run of form before Christmas lifted the Toon Army into the top ten, they now appear to be getting sucked into a relegation race, and it is perhaps fair to say that the recent results don’t even do justice to how poor the performances have actually been. Saturday’s trip to Selhurst Park was no different, as Patrick van Aanholt’s first-half strike gave the hosts all three points.
And while there were plenty of poor individual displays, none were more disappointing than Longstaff, who looked to be a star in the making when he broke through last season. Per Sofascore, the 22 year-old lost possession more than any other Newcastle player (20 times) and also completed just 78% of his passes and was dribbled past four times.
