Newcastle United: Fans react to takeover claim from Lee Ryder

Lots of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a claim on the prospective takeover in the North East as NUFC 360 relayed a comment made by Lee Ryder on their official Twitter page.

The journalist was speaking on the Everything is Black and White podcast (via ChronicleLive) when he had this to say on the proposed deal at St. James’ Park:

“I’ve checked in with people around the deal. The people I’ve checked with are still confident they are going to get the breakthrough.”

Indeed, this is a relatively bold statement to make as Ryder gives insight into his connections within the bid, claiming that they are still confident that the proposed takeover of the Tyneside club will eventually go through.

However, there have been perhaps major stumbling blocks in recent days with regards as to whether the Premier League will actually approve of the deal.

The Guardian have recently reported that the bid is in serious doubt after the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruled that the pirate television channel beoutQ is Saudi, which includes a streaming service that offers illegal access to sporting events, including the broadcast of games from the top flight.

If England’s highest division deem this to be a breach of their owner’s and director’s tests, then the Saudi-led consortium may not see their bid approved after all.

Perhaps this has rubbed off on some Magpies, as these members of the Toon faithful reacted rather negatively to Ryder’s apparent positive claim:
