Following a report from French journalist Manu Lonjon via the Shields Gazette which claimed Newcastle United lodged a £25 million bid for Club Brugge striker Emmanuel Dennis, Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder has since suggested that the rumour may not be true – with some Magpies supporters feeling frustrated with the update.

Dennis, who has bagged eight goals in 26 appearances this season for Brugge in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt, could’ve been seen as an extremely positive move from Newcastle’s perspective given how early it is in the January window – but a crucial update on Twitter from Ryder has since quashed that.
Compared to the Toon Army’s current front men Joelinton and Andy Carroll, Dennis has eclipsed them in terms of goalscoring form this campaign – with the Newcastle duo only managing to muster one strike between them.
Dennis has also managed to score two goals in the Champions League, as per WhoScored.com, potentially proving he can cut it at the highest level.
As a result, some Newcastle fans have showcased their disappointment at the update, here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
OMG stop it. Why even comment on potential signings when 99 %don’t go through. Absolute waste of time.

Why not spend 25 million on a striker which we are crying out for so frustrating 🤷♂️

The time of the year where we’re linked with about 700 different players and only sign 1 and it’s a loan

As is always the case lots of names linked but no actual movement.
