Guillem Balague has made a rather bold claim about the proposed takeover of Newcastle United in the North East after he was speaking on his YouTube channel (via The Boot Room).
As per the outlet, the Spanish journalist still expects the prospective deal between Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group and the current owner of the Tyneside club Mike Ashley to go through despite a recent report that was released by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) about the Middle Eastern Kingdom’s protection of intellectual property rights.

Qatar accused the Saudis of breaching their own international laws with regards to the pirate satellite television channel beoutQ, which broadcasts and streams games from the Premier League illegally, as this was ruled to be the case by the WTO.
However, there were no ties in the report to the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), headed by the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), who is one of the would-be owners should the £300 million bid to take over the Magpies go through, which could give members of the Toon faithful some encouragement.
However, from what Balague has heard, the football expert still believes that the takeover of NUFC will still be approved by the English top flight despite the accusations made against Saudi Arabia.
“The new Newcastle, when everything gets confirmed and everybody expects it to be confirmed to be honest from everything I am reading and from everything I am hearing,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“From what I have been asking, the consensus is that the Premier League will accept the bid. If that is the case, then Newcastle are about to enter a new era.”
Indeed, only time will tell as to whether Balague is correct, but given the fact that he has contacts in the footballing world and that the WTO report does not faze his opinion, perhaps supporters will be delighted upon hearing that he thinks that the takeover will still go through at St. James’ Park.
