Mark Douglas has revealed a possible key date in the potential revival of the proposed £300m takeover of Newcastle United by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) group.
Writing for The Chronicle, the journalist believes that the summit in the KSA on January 5th may well be the next point of hope for the deal between Mike Ashley and the consortium to be revived.

That day is when the first meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) of the new year will take place, when it is expected that steps will be taken to end the political dispute between the Kingdom and its Gulf neighbours in Qatar.
Can settling the disputes help revive the Newcastle takeover?
Given the bad blood between the two counties, in where the KSA have banned Qatari broadcaster beIN and have allowed their residents to illegally stream games from the Premier League in the Gulf country, perhaps a settlement of their disputes could be a step toward the eventual approval of the takeover of the Tyneside club by the Saudis.

The summit will certainly be something to keep an eye on for fans in the North East, as it may provide an idea as to where the Kingdom are at in terms of stamping out their piracy issues once and for all.
