Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has said that Newcastle United are 'definitely' now eyeing up a move for Armando Broja.

The Lowdown: Striker wanted

After the signings of goalkeeper Nick Pope, central defender Sven Botman and left-back Matt Targett, Eddie Howe's team will now turn their attention to attacking reinforcements.

They clearly want to bring in a new striker, with the likes of Timo Werner and Ludovic Ajorque being linked with a move to St. James' Park in recent days following the collapse of interest in the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.

The Latest: Broja interest

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Downie has shared that Broja is 'definitely' on the list of strikers wanted in the North East, and it is a deal that he is not ruling out before the transfer window closes:

“Absolutely. I know for a fact he’s definitely on the list.

“I’m reading between the lines a little bit, because I’ve obviously been away, but I don’t think I would rule that one out totally yet.”

The Verdict: Get it done

If the Tynesiders want to push up the table this season, then they will need to add more firepower to support the likes of Callum Wilson and Chris Wood, and Broja could well fit the bill.

Hailed as ‘devastating‘ by Albania assistant coach Sergio Porrini, the six-foot-three colossus already boasts four senior goals in 14 caps for his country, on top of the nine that he managed while on loan at Southampton from Chelsea last term (Transfermarkt).

With a year of Premier League experience now under his belt, the 20-year-old will be itching to show what he can do again, and the Magpies could be the main beneficiaries of his development.
