Steve Bruce has been teasing what the transfer plans of Newcastle United may be, pending the proposed takeover.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Tyneside club’s last game of the 2019/20 season at home against the Premier League champions Liverpool at St. James’ Park, Bruce (via Lee Ryder) claimed that “we’ve got one or two things in the fire”, potentially referring to some transfer deals that he is trying to get sorted ahead of the new term.

Indeed, his transfer plans may depend on whether the prospective takeover is approved by the top flight, as they would likely have a lot more money at their possible disposal.
The buying side, which consists of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the businesswoman and head of PCP Capital Partners Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers, are all relatively wealthy, and may move for expensive players in the market to fulfil their ambitions for the Magpies.

However, Bruce has had to make plans without factoring in the potential takeover at the moment until the final decision as to whether to approve the bid is made by England’s highest division.
The Englishman will surely be looking to improve on their league position and points total from this season, and may also wish to go for a domestic cup having been knocked out of the FA Cup to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the quarter-final in this campaign.

Nevertheless, only time will tell as to what materialises when the window opens, but it seems as if Bruce already has one or two moves lined up.
