The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for more transfer action in the coming weeks with Rafa Benitez hopeful of strengthening his team enough so that they can sustain their top 10 form.
Rafa Benitez was one of the top managers in the Premier League having taken a rather average Newcastle team to reach the top 10. Yes there were tricky times alone that journey but the Spaniard proved why he his so good at management. Now that Benitez has shown why he is vital in aiding the Magpies’ success, he should be backed heavily in the transfer market. With that in mind, our punters believe that his first summer signing should be Real Madrid’s Borja Mayoral, who is valued at £6.7 million on Transfermarkt. With Rafa’s obvious previous connections with Real Madrid, this transfer seems perfect and could work out well for both parties.
The 21-year-old was given the season to show what he could do for Real Madrid and, considering he only started 9 games, his return of 7 goals and 3 assists is brilliant. The Spaniard was previously loaned to German side Wolfsburg but after performing well there, Madrid wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Mayoral has proven that when trusted to start games, he can deliver even for the greats of the Champions League winners.
The Toon Army had a torrid time trying to find a goalscorer last season but instantly with the capture of Borja Mayoral, that shows the Magpies’ willingness to improve on their team from last season. If he could perform on a regular basis for the Premier League outfit, Mayoral could be one of the better signings this transfer window.
