The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the future of their ten-goal striker, Pierre-Michel Lasogga in response to a column on the striker in the Yorkshire Evening Post. The German has been described as the “flop of the century” by former Hamburg moneyman, Klaus-Michael Kuhne as he nears the end of Elland Road stay and prepares to return to Hamburg.

As far as Leeds United are concerned, Lasogga hasn’t been that bad. His complete lack of movement, involvement in build-up play and awareness needed of a modern ay centre-forward are obviously preventing him from going on to achieve big things, but there’s no doubt that the German can finish. Ten goals in 30 appearances isn’t awful, but neither is it setting the world alight and when you consider that the German’s full wages equate to £50,000 per week, you’d struggle to argue why he deserves it.
However, at Elland Road this season there has been a distinct lack of clinical strikers at the club.Lasogga, Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Keemar Roofe have scored a combined 22 Championship goals this season, whilst last year Chris Wood alone scored an incredible 27 goals. The lack of a consistent goalscorer has no doubt dented Leeds chances of promotion after a promising start to the season saw them occupying a playoff place in January before awful new year form has seen the club plummet to 14th.
