Sunderland: Fans rubbish claims that club is after £16.7m-rated Ozan Tufan

According to Turkish outfit Fanatik, Sunderland are interested in Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan and are said to be scouting the player along with Everton and Tottenham.

It is a surprising claim given the player reportedly has a transfer release clause of €20m [£16.7m] and therefore is surely valued far beyond what Sunderland would be able to afford currently as a League One outfit. As a result, and not surprisingly, fans are sceptical of the report as they know the club isn’t in a place, financially and on the pitch, to make a move for such a player.

Indeed, considering the club once again had a limited spend in January, a multi-million-pound outlay on a single player is beyond their capacity at the moment.

Tufan has made 120 appearances for Fenerbahce, too, including seven-goal contributions in 22 league games this campaign, so while he may be of interest to the likes of Everton and Spurs, it is unlikely Sunderland will come calling.

That is the feeling fans have too, as seen in the reactions below.
