Sunderland are on an impressive run of form but some of their performances in recent matches could be a cause for concern.
One aspect of their game that is clearly excelling is the defence, with two goals conceded in eight games, but the narrow win over Oxford on Saturday, and the lack of goals from Charlie Wyke, has led to a debate about whether changes should be made.
Just one shot on target against the U’s shows there is a need for improvement, with games against Bristol Rovers, Fleetwood and promotion rivals Coventry coming up soon, although the Black Cats have consistently picked up points in recent weeks, losing just one of their last 13 league games.
While some fans may be tired of seeing Wyke start due to his return of two goals in 12 games, others fear that dropping him or others from the team could disrupt their rhythm and lead to a negative result.
Phil Parkinson has the team playing with confidence and they have demonstrated that they can win with style and grind out three points when necessary, so it seems any changes to the starting line-up at this point would be an unnecessary risk to make.

The one position I’m beginning to question is centre forward. In recent weeks I’ve defended Charlie Wyke to the hilt, as he continues to contribute without scoring regularly.
However after Saturday’s dismal showing, I think its time to start Lafferty.

Personally i’d keep it the same, unless someone isnt quite 100% then i’d keep them for the Fleetwood game. I’d like to see Semenyo get some more game time, also think Hume has struggled last few games with his final ball, but doesnt sound like John is ready fitness wise yet

Why change it when it’s been so effective? Free week this week to recharge the batteries. Players are all fitting thr system. As long as we are scoring goals I’m not worried about Wyke.

I wouldn’t change a thing. Particularly because they have a full weeks rest under their belts. The system is working well. The starting eleven is settled. Why change it?
I’d like to see Scowen more involved at some point, but there’s no need to force him into the team right now.
