Southampton, and their fans alike, are beginning to worry about just what will happen to the team this season having had a poor start to the campaign.
They did strengthen over the summer and those additions looked extremely good at the start but now as every other player in the league begins to settle, old fears are back for Saints fans.
Danny Ings has been providing the goals but with deliveries into him not happening very often, it’s about time Southampton start looking towards the January transfer window and eye a player who can raise eyebrows at St Mary’s.
A player that could play anywhere across the front-line is Marseille’s Lucas Ocampos and what a signing that could turn out to be.
Ocampos, (who is valued at £10.8 million on Transfermarkt) has been excellent for Marseille over the last 12 months and continues to show why a team like Southampton simply have to invest in him.
With attacking flair a big thing that is missing at Southampton right now, the addition of 24-year-old Lucas Ocampos would be a massive statement and a cracking replacement for Dusan Tadic, a player they’ve never truly replaced.
This season, Ocampos has scored twice and provided one assist but when looking at his goal contribution last season, you understand exactly why Southampton need him.
With 16 goals and four assists in all competitions, abundance of skill and trickery, Lucas Ocampos is a player Southampton really have to consider signing due to their lack of drive in attack.
With his arrival, you would think players would be wanting to play better to keep their space in the team so a move could be a brilliant thing for a lot of reasons.
