QPR Has To WIN This Window: Is Djibril Cisse ‘Winning’?

Mark Hughes is preparing a bid to capture former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse before Tuesday’s January transfer deadline, reports The Guardian.

QPR currently find themselves in a precarious position hovering 2 points above the Premier League drop zone and new boss Mark Hughes is ready to dip into Tony Fernades’ funds to strengthen his attacking options to avoid a relegation dogfight in the remaining months of the season.

With the January window nearing it’s close the Rangers boss has earmarked Cisse as the man to fire his side away from danger. The 30-year-old Frenchman has struggled to nail down a regular spot in Lazio’s starting XI following his €5.8m summer move from Panathinaikos and finding the net on just 5 occasions. Cisse’s most recent goal came in the Biancazzurri’s Serie A clash with Milan on Thursday, his first in 4 months.

The French striker who was part of Liverpool’s 2005 European Cup winning side still has 3-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract in Rome but a fee of around £4m may be enough to secure a permanent switch to Loftus Road. Hughes could also pursue the option of a loan deal until the end of the season but will only be made possible if Lazio coach Edoardo Reja can find a replacement.

Reports in the Daily Mirror suggest that the Italian side have made enquiries over QPR’s Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt which Hughes could use to his advantage in a makeweight to land Cisse.

According to Goal.com, the out-of-favour Lazio striker wasn’t ruling out a move in the January transfer window when he spoke to French tabloid L’Equipe.

He said, “The transfer window is not finished. There are a few days. You never know what can happen.”

Cisse has an impressive career goals to games ratio of 1 in almost every 2 games which is the sort of firepower that can help secure QPR’s status in the Premier League.
