Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been identified as a transfer target by Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, that is according to a report from Sabah via the Birmingham Mail.
It is suggested that the Super Lig club see the 26-year-old as a potential replacement for former Chelsea man John Obi Mikel, who saw his contract with them mutually terminated back in March (The Guardian).
Nakamba only joined Villa last summer, arriving from Belgian outfit Club Brugge for more than £11 million (Sky Sports). He has gone on to become a regular in Dean Smith’s side in the Premier League, featuring 21 times in total including 18 starts (Transfermarkt).

So far it could be argued that he has done well without being spectacular, indeed whilst he wins an average of five total duels and makes 2.4 tackles per game he is also dribbled past 1.9 times and wins possession 0.1 times per match (SofaScore).
The fan reaction to this transfer link actually reflects Nakamba’s performances, with many having mixed opinions on the Zimbabwean’s potential exit. Some feel that he still has plenty to offer the Villa Park outfit, whilst others would be happy to see him leave…

Keep him! Other than Jack, he’s probably been our player of the season. Sure, he’s had some poor games and moments, but what can you expect in a relegation team. He’s shown more fight than anyone, and does the ‘Kante’ role very effectively. He’ll be in a top team in a few years.

Finally. His ball retention, vision, general awareness and speed of the game is seriously slacking. Gives the ball away in key areas far to many times. The prem is to fast for him. Yes defensively hes ok. But losing the ball in key areas is huge red flag.
