Stewart Donald stated (via Bloomberg) previously that he hoped to have a buyer for Sunderland lined up at the end of this month, but it seems he has rejected an approach from one interested party.
Chinese businessman Sammy Yu, who previously orchestrated Carson Yeung’s purchase of Birmingham and acted as vice-chairman of the Blues, has revealed that he is interested in taking over at the Stadium of Light. According to the Sunday People via the Chronicle, an initial approach by Yu and a Hong Kong-based group has been rejected by Donald, who is still keen on getting £40m for the club.
Yu’s association with Yeung means he is a bit of a controversial figure himself, as the former Birmingham chairman was sent to prison for money laundering in 2014. As a result, many fans are sceptical or unsure of Yu’s interest, and though fans are keen to be rid of Donald, they are not unhappy that he has rejected this latest approach.
There has been a bit of a mixed reaction to the news, with several fans worried that the club could be sold to the wrong people.

I said from the start when @RokerReport etc. put out the #DonaldOut campaign, we need to be very careful what we wish for!

Oh that is worrying

Just shows Donald is all out for getting the most money for himself and not the best future owner for the club.

Ambivalent at best, nervous at worst. OK, so it’s still largely ‘Donald Out’. Fine. But is it ‘Donald Out To The First Bidder’? There would be a hell of a lot of questions that would need answering, if this is indeed a credible approach.

Birmingham fans don’t seem to be big fans of him, sounds a bit dodgy. From American Billionaires to this😂 cosmic

No thank you.
We have a flood of potential buyers, thankfully, according to Donald so this lot have no chance of getting near the club.
