Celtic will be feeling the pressure looming over them with Rangers hot on their tail this season.
Brendan Rodgers and his talented team will still feel confident they have enough to get the job done, yet Steven Gerrard’s team are proving a sterner opposition than first thought.
Nevertheless, the focus has to be on themselves and how they will improve their chances of winning the league title again.
Having already been busy during the January transfer window, Celtic will need to continue that and eye even more talent to add to their squad.
The striker position will still be a concern for the club with Timothy Weah relatively unproven so signing a player like PSV’s Maximiliano Romero would be a good idea worth pursuing.
Romero, (who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt) is highly-rated yet barely used by the Dutch side this season.
He has played just nine minutes in the league for the first team this season, instead playing for the U21 side where he has managed three goals in eight appearances.
The 20-year-old, like Weah, is unproven at this stage but both could gain confidence from the Scottish Premiership, with the chance to play regularly.
Another loan deal surely wouldn’t be a bad decision for Brendan Rodgers and co to consider for the Argentina U20 international.
They would then find themselves with a healthy mix of experience and youth in the forward department, with everyone gaining an opportunity to enjoy football on a regular basis.
Brendan Rodgers surely knows more needs to be done in order to improve his team this month and Maximiliano Romero could be the perfect answer.
