Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have reacted to Barry Bannan’s latest comments on playing in the Premier League and his Brentford admiration.
Bannan has recently admitted that if he had found a Premier League side to join that he would have had more time in England’s top flight.
The 30-year-old Scottish international initially began his career with Aston Villa, but left the Midlands based club before making a move to Crystal Palace where he would spend two seasons.
Leaving Selhurst Park, Bannan joined the Owls in 2015, and the midfielder has since been a mainstay in the starting eleven at Hillsbrough.
Spending the last five seasons in the Championship, 30-year-old Bannan has opted to discuss a regret at his lack of time in the top flight, telling the Daily Record: “I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in my career but still think it could have been better.
“I’ve still not given up hope of playing in the Premier League again, which is the best in the world. Hopefully I can do that before my time’s up and I’d like to win a few more Scotland caps as well.
“I’ve got no regrets but if I’d have found a club that maybe suited my style more, I’d have achieved more.”
Following on from those comments, Bannan also mentioned Brentford as a side he would love to play for, saying: “Look at Brentford now in the Championship. It would be perfect for me to play in a team like that.”
Bannan has a current contract with Wednesday which will run out next summer, when he will have completed seven years at the club.
The Owls had started well in the Championship this season, but form has somewhat dropped and the Owls now find themselves sitting 15th in the league standings (BBC Sport).

If he wants a lift to Brentford I’ll drop him off.

They can have him. Even Brentford know physicality is a massive aspect of championship football. Bannan has none of that.

Can’t blame him. They play like we did that first season under Carlos and he was key to the majority of that attacking play.
