Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react to historic Barry Bannan footage

Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have reacted to footage of Barry Bannan netting a superb strike against Derby County from four years ago.

Owls fans have not had much to celebrate over the last few months, seeing their side drop out of the play-off places down to 15th in the Championship table (BBC Sport).

Such poor form has many fans wondering where Wednesday will finish in the league standings come the end of the season, but with football at a standstill at present, a welcome distraction has been some old footage of some more memorable times for the club.

Looking back at a superb strike from Bannan against Derby in April 2016, which saw the Owls draw 1-1 with the Rams, fans looked back at what was one of the goals of the 2015/2016 Championship campaign.

Bannan’s 69th minute wonder strike was cancelled out in the end by Rams striker Darren Bent, but life under Portuguese manager Carlos Carvalhal’s reign was certainly much more attacking than performances at present.
