Sheffield Wednesday: Fans slam Barry Bannan for recent performance

Sheffield Wednesday played out a 1-1 draw with close Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley on Saturday afternoon, however fans were left fuming after the final whistle after what they witnessed from Barry Bannan whilst in the middle of the park.

Josh Windass got the Owls off to a flyer when he netted but Cauley Woodrow capitalised on a Cameron Dawson error shortly after (BBC) to bring the Oakwell outfit back on level terms and leave the Hillsborough side without a Championship win since early January (WhoScored).

Indeed, it would seem many of their supporters were upset with how their players performed on the afternoon, although many appeared to single out Bannan for what they perceived to be a rather poor display.

According to the data collected by WhoScored, the former Scotland international midfielder appeared to have a solid game as the 30-year-old managed to contribute with five total tackles, one interception and a passing success rate of 76.5%.

However, he failed to add anything of note for the Owls in the final third of the pitch as he did not have a shot or play a key pass as he completed just two dribbles (WhoScored).

Fans tore into Bannan on social media, with many taking to Twitter to criticise the midfielder and asking for Garry Monk to consider dropping him in the near future.
