While there have been some raucous nights in the Transfer Tavern this season, few evenings have been full of laughter as on Deadline Day, when Moussa Sissoko joined Tottenham Hotspur from Newcastle United at great expense.
The Frenchman was proving a mightily unpopular figure on Tyneside prior to his departure and, while he put in some performances during Euro 2016, had largely flattered to deceive for a number of months in black and white. While some of the Spurs fans propping up the bar had initially defended their signing of the winger, it’s been increasingly hard to of late.
Frozen out of the first-team picture in north London, the 27-year-old’s situation has got even worse recently following his dropping from the Les Blues squad, in favour of another Magpies flop, Florian Thauvin.
As you can imagine, the Toon Army on social media found it rather funny indeed, so here’s a look at how Newcastle and Tottenham fans reacted to Sissoko’s France dropping.
