Leeds United are currently scrambling in the transfer market as they seek to add a direct replacement for the outgoing Chris Wood who joined Burnley last week in a big money move.
The Whites have started the Championship season well though under new manager Thomas Christiansen, and they look well capable again of making a good run at the playoffs following last seasons disappointment of missing out at the last minute.
Our landlord here in the Tavern was having a few beers with some of our Leeds fans yesterday and talk soon turned to who the club could replace Wood with. One man he thinks could be the ideal replacement is current Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira.
The Portuguese international hit 11 goals last time out for the Canaries as he impressed in his debut campaign at Carrow Road. His spell with Nottingham Forest was also impressive, and he really does look the business on his day.
Leeds are armed with money following the sale of Wood, and despite Oliveira no doubt commanding a decent fee, this would not worry the Yorkshire club.
Wood’s goals will be a big loss to Leeds, but signing someone with proven pedigree like Oliveira could well go a long way to soothing the wounds of losing their star man.
