Sir Alex Linked With £4.5m World Cup Keeper

Hapoel Tel Aviv stopper Vincent Enyeama is the latest name to be linked with a move to Old Trafford according to the Nigerian Sunday Tribune newspaper.

The 28-year-old starred for Nigeria in this year’s World Cup in South Africa and is valued between £2m and £4.5m.

40-year-old United keeper Edwin Van der Sar is expected to retire from football at the end of the season and has sparked a host of rumours as to whom would replace him. Sir Alex Ferguson has already signed Danish shot-stopper Anders Lindegaard but it is unlikely that the 26-year-old will be a straight replacement for United’s Dutch keeper come the new season.

Enyeama has been in fabulous form for Tel Aviv in recent seasons but is only contracted to Hapoel until the end of the season meaning that this is the Israeli side’s last chance to cash in on the Nigerian international.

He has been previously been linked with Arsenal, Espanyol and FC Porto with reports that Tel Aviv even turned down a €1m bid from the Portuguese outfit in the summer.

With international experience and proven pedigree this could be the surprise signing of the season. If United can get their man for as little as £2m then it would represent good business for Fergie.
