As per Foot Mercato, Birmingham City are interested in signing Southampton’s Yan Valery on loan until the end of the season.
Birmingham eye Valery
Valery has played just three times in the Premier League so far this campaign (Transfermarkt). However, he was included in the starting line-up for the Saints’ 3-1 defeat against Arsenal.

It seems, though, that he is not a huge part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans for the rest of the campaign. As such, Championship side Birmingham want to sign him on a short-term basis.
Surprising fall
Valery made 23 appearances in the Premier League as a teenager during the 2018/19 campaign, but that number fell to 11 last term and has continued to fall this season. Valued at £5.67m (Transfermarkt), he is still only 21, and has plenty of time to prove he still has what it takes to make it at St. Mary’s Stadium.

At St. Andrew’s, at least, he will be hoping to play on a regular basis – exactly what he needs to do to catch Hasenhuttl’s eye.
In other news, Southampton have entered the talks to sign this 29-year-old.
