Tottenham: Spurs fans react to links with Emerson

Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to links with Brazilian full-back Emerson.

Having conceded 40 goals in the Premier League already this season – the joint-worst record in the top ten along with Burnley – it’s been no surprise to hear that Spurs are keen on reinforcing their defence this summer.

And according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Jose Mourinho’s side have enquired about 21-year-old Emerson, who is co-owned by both Barcelona and Real Betis.

The report claims that Barcelona could end up owning 100% of the rights to Emerson, and that Tottenham could step up their interest in the defender.

Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old has been an impressive performer for Betis this season, playing 24 times across all competitions, and scoring three times and providing a further five assists.

After hearing about their links to the Brazilian, Spurs fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their potential transfer target, and some seemed to be thrilled by the prospect of him joining the north London side.

I don’t think people realise how unrealistic this is. Emerson has made it clear for 2 or 3 years now that it’s his ultimate dream to play for Barcelona. This season he says he’s finally ready to do that. Add to that, Barcelona want him. This is incredibly unlikely.
