Sunderland will be hoping that 2020 is a positive year for them after a tough end to the last decade that saw them drop down to Sky Bet League One.
2019 could have been better for them had they earned promotion at Wembley but that did not happen and now the Black Cats will be looking to challenge for the play-offs again this season.
Recent results have build a fragile confidence that they might be able to do that, though you get the feeling they’re still about one loss away from completely losing all momentum right now.
The senior side will look to build their recent unbeaten run, then, but the U23 side would give anything to be even able to embark on such a string of form, such is the dire nature of recent results.
