Sunderland: Fans bemoan bad luck in clash with Fleetwood

Sunderland kicked off 2020 with a draw against Fleetwood Town away from home in what was an at times controversial occasion.

Penalties proved to be the running theme of the game with both goals coming via the spot and other claims for more also being thrown up during the contest.

Ched Evans scored his fairly early on in the game to give the Cod Army the lead but Sunderland kept going and eventually earned a point as Chris Magure scored his own penalty with minutes to spare on the clock.

A pretty engrossing tie, then, and one the Black Cats might have felt as though they could have won had decisions gone their way a little better over the full course of the match.
