Sunderland went down 1-0 to an early Coventry City goal on Sunday afternoon as the two promotion rivals clashed at St Andrew’s.
The Black Cats have had a good 2020 so far but would have realised that getting a result against the Midlands side was important in order to maintain hopes of an automatic promotion challenge.
Of course, there is still plenty of time to achieve that but the Black Cats did miss their chance yesterday with the Sky Blues in front in a matter of minutes after kick-off thanks to Matt Godden.
Work to do, then, for the men from Wearside and it remains to be seen how Phil Parkinson looks to shake his side up, if he does, for their next league fixture.
