Despite there being international football on the horizon this week, the club game isn’t stopping completely in this country – not by a long chalk.
Below the Premier League and Championship, the battles rage on in the EFL with both League One and League Two largely untouched by the international games that are coming up.
Indeed, there are matches tonight with Sunderland among the sides in action as the EFL Trophy is back on the schedule.
It’s not always been the most heralded competition since its rebrand, but Sunderland took it seriously last year and Phil Parkinson will want to try and use it to get on a run of wins.
They face League Two Scunthorpe tonight, after a draw with Gillingham in the FA Cup at the weekend, meaning the games keep coming.
