Tuesday night provided a game to forget for Sunderland in the EFL Trophy as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City’s U21 side.
The Black Cats have had an okay at best season so far in Sky Bet League One with them hoping to be challenging for the top two in all honesty.
They’ve not really threatened to do so right now, though, and Jack Ross has lost his job because of that, with Phil Parkinson coming in to replace him.
Parkinson has seen a run of indifferent-at-best results so far, though, and Black Cats fans are evidently concerned that a bit of a shake-up is needed with the squad to get them back in the Championship.
Indeed, last night the manager cut a very frustrated figure as he reflected on the loss, clearly furious at the way his team allowed the young Foxes side to create so many chances.

This certainly got a reaction from the Black Cats’ fan base on Twitter, then, so let’s take a look at some of the best of what has been said:
Read between the lines of what he is saying. They didn’t listen to my instructions and you’ll not be seeing some of those players much this season.

Completely agree. He’s livid, and with good reason. De Bock is surely finished here, and although I’ve backed him to the hilt, I think McGeouch will be heading back to Scotland in January. Parkinson strikes me as someone who won’t tolerate driftwood in the club.

Not his fault whatsoever, people blaming Parkinson needs their heads shaking

So disappointing when we see a young team from Northumberland win the world championship and we just dont seem bothered to try and win with a virtual first team against kids! Well done to Leicester but what an awful advert for safc
