Sunderland return to action this evening as they head to Kent to take on fellow League One side Gillingham in a replay in the first round of the FA Cup.
The Black Cats are in the middle of a pretty poor run of form with their last result perhaps providing the lowest point of them all – a loss to Scunthorpe United in the EFL Trophy.
Certainly, it’s not been the season that fans on Wearside had hoped it was going to be so far, but there is still plenty of time for them to turn things around and string some form together.
Whether or not that begins against Steve Evans’ side, though, remains to be seen but it does seem as though striker Will Grigg is back in contention after recent illness.
Phil Parkinson revealed:
PP: Will Grigg is back available. He had a sickness bug last week but has come back in and trained the last couple of days. Will is an important player for us. We have got to keep working with and we all know there is more to come from him. #SAFC pic.twitter.com/rul2I9wZQ5

Grigg can score goals at this level but he has struggled at Sunderland during his time there.
